IKEA = Next Big Blueland Sponsor?

Considering the most recent news development coming out of Thrasherville -- the free-agent signing of 23 y/o Freddie Pettersson from the SEL -- it would seem logical for the marketing department to target the Swedish retailer IKEA for some corporate sponsorship love (at least a few dasher board ads behind the "Moose" right?) this season in Blueland. Or shall we just start a campaign to change the name to Sverige Atlanta?!

Hell, a shoulder patch with the word "IKEA" would hardly be an eyesore on the Thrashers' uniforms. And what better way to engender long-term loyalty from our assemblage of plucky and talented Swedes? Should Carl Klingberg and Fredrik Pettersson both manage to crack the line-up this fall, and Johan Hedberg returns to man the nets for the T-birds, the team could feature as many as six Swedish-born players. A veritable Swedish Six-pack if you will.

Let's see, what other Swedes might be available to sign in free agency? How about Henrik Tallinder to round out our D-corps? A trade with Dallas for winger Fabian Brunnstrom or an offer sheet to poach center Alexander Steen? Nah, I think I'd rather have Alex's old basement than his services as a player...what do you think? Needs a big-ass flat-screen eh?
